In this case, Thunderbird is different only because it came second. The
SeaMonkey menus are little changed from the Mozilla menus. The
Thunderbird and Firefox menus are vastly changed because it was decided
that users would find the new interface easier to use.

Like everything else, there's a learning curve. The original Thunderbird
and Firefox were a bit too minimalistic. Over time the most used
extensions will make their way into the base product. We are already
seeing more configuration options.
