Subject: SCOUG-Help: Using a Computer as Print Server...?

Content Type: text/plain

I realize that this is not a direct answer, but...

I think a better way is to use a mini print server such as:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Hawking-Technologies-Mini-Parallel-Print-Server-PN6125_W0QQitemZ330166158555QQihZ014QQcategoryZ64059QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This is similar to one that I use. It connects to the parallel port on
the printer and to your network. Use the SLPR driver. This has the great
advantage of allowing printing from any computer in the network without
having to have any other computer powered up and booted to an OS that
shares the printer. Very important in my book!

Another solution that does not require a computer is a router/switch
with a print server built in. Many sources for these.
