The life cycle of MBs is a few months. They probably build a batch and
ship it all at once, and that's the end of it because it is now obsolete.

One very good thing about Fry's is they have an absolute return policy.
Read the specs and try it.

I have had a lot of ECS MBs. My experience has been mixed, as it has
been with other MBs.

The video problem I had with W2K was with a SNAP beta. With the
furnished driver is is OK. I also seem to have FreeDos settled. W98SE
CD support, probably never.

I am not real concerned whether I can INSTALL OS/2 on a particular MB.
My first test is to just grab the HDD from a functioning system and plug
it in and see what happens. OS/2 moves so easily I don't mind doing
installations on another machine.

And Dfsee does clones so easily I don't mind messing up a HDD. With
front panel plugins I just slip in the copy.

Probably, but why? I have XP on a laptop because it came with it. I
immediately added W2K and eCS. It was predicted that W2K would outlast
XP in the business world, mostly because of the hassle factor.

From what I read about Vista I want no part of it. Apparently I am not
alone. My wife just moved to a newly built school with all new
equipment. They issued her a new Dell laptop. The sticker says Vista,
the OS is XP.
