I saw recently a comment that many modern motherboards will not support
a second floppy drive. (Please don't ask why I would want a first or
second floppy drive; I may give an obscene answer.) MY Tyan Tomcat K8E
has a BIOS setting for a second floppy, but when I connect one it will
not work. When I try to access B: I get the message
Program stopped because alternate diskette was not inserted. "B:"
I am aware that the first drive goes on the end of the cable which has a
center portion "twisted." I am aware to keep the red stripe on the cable
on the correct and same side of both drives.
Can anyone offer any insight into what may be going on? Even if they
have a BIOS setting for a second floppy, do some MBs still not support them?
Martin
