More than you might think do run with more than 2GB of RAM. Think

Yes and no. Use the partition for anything you like as long as you might
care that it goes away when the trap dump facility writes the dump file.
For example, on a laptop, the trap dump volume is a handy place to put the
hiberation file.
Think about it. The kernel has just had a catastrophic failure. Would
you trust it to write to any volume that has data of value?
Another way to look at it is, let's say trap was in JFS.IFS, would you
trust the IFS to write data to a volume that had data of value?
