There once was a group of philosophers in a conference room arguing
about how many teeth a horse has. The argument went on seemingly
without any consensus. All the while, outside the window, was a horse.
Here is one "horse". My storage box is currently only running a P3. It
has two floppies, a ZIP, a CD RW, one 40G, one 200G, and two 500G PATA.
Power-on surge was 130W. It quickly settled to 88W.
Here is another. Pentium D, socket LGA775 - which is not really a
socket but a bunch of pins that contact pads on the processor. One
floppy, a ZIP, CD/DVD RW LiteScribe, CDRW DVD ROM, 80G & 200G PATA, lots
of fans.
Power-on serge was 190W. Settled to 145W.
Reference: KILLA WATT by P3. I got it from a catalog, it is now at
Harbor Freight. Does: V, A, VA, W, PF, HZ, Hours, KWH.
