I just played it on my Debian box, with mplayer, lynx, console mode.
Don't know if this thinking applies, but sometimes
the 'codec's need to be updated.
I had a similar problem (skipping details at this point) about
mplayer not playing streaming video from some sources on this box,
and updating the codecs, per advice of Seth Kenlon,
(http://www.socallinuxexpo.com/scale6x/conference-info/speakers/Seth-Kenlon/)
seems to have solved the problem.
