TTBOMK, that is another subscription. But, as I
recently opined in response to the news item from Mark
Dodel, they basically lost me for 2.x because of the
requirement to put it on JFS. As of the moment, I
don't run any JFS. (Perhaps that will change, on one
of the systems I'm rebuilding or revamping.)
I have and may install OO 2.x for the Dark Side, where
the present installed level is 1.1.5. Wanna bet
*they* don't require JFS ? Unless the later version
has essential features like opening / converting
latter day files that the 1.1.5 programs won't, I
don't see much urgency for upgrading.=20
If I may segue a bit here, I recently needed to do
something rather basic with a PDF file -- extract a
couple paragraphs just as plain text, and send it to
the clipboard or a file. Couldn't do it with Lucide,
nor with our Acrobat Reader 5.1 preview edition.=20
Tried to do it with GhostView, but the output came out
as gibberish. Later, when it didn't matter anymore, I
found I could do this easily with Adobe Reader 8 for
the Dark Side . . . even if the document was locked
down in that "no tamper" mode. Any new tools like
that in the OO 2.x we can get from Mensys ?
