Subject: SCOUG-Help: Can't get a SM >1.1 to work properly

I know this is an old problem, but it never did get
resolved. I've tried SM 1.1.5, 1.1.7, and 1.1.9
(mostly the Weilbacher builds -- being well aware that
they do not have the same DLL requirements as the
official builds -- but also a couple of the latter),
and I have to keep reverting to the old PW SM 1_1,
which continues to work for me just fine. I've asked
questions, gotten some answers, and tried everything I
could think of, but the results remain the same. I
must be missing something, but haven't zeroed in on it
yet. This is on a desktop system -- NOT the one I'll
be bringing on Sat.

The results can be compared in the two JPEG shots: a
heavily bordered screen with apparent error, and
several missing menu categories, for any SM later than
1_1. The relevant info should -- I hope -- all be
contained within the attached Zipfile. It doesn't
seem to matter *what* combination of LIBC.DLL and
GCC.DLL files I add to or remove from either the
operational SM directory OR from \ecs\DLL, or both.=20
By this point, I'm thinking I must have tried 'em all
! I've duplicated the selection that works in 1_1,
which doesn't work here. I've also tried Ray's idea
of dumping all the DLL releases into \ECS\DLL *only*
(which is of course in the LibPath), and that doesn't
work either.

When this fails, I just reset the desktop object to
point back to 1_1 (I won't zap those directories off
the system, because that is the only version that
fully works for me, and it does not figure in the
Path), and then I'm back in business . . . albeit
using the much older version. =20
