Subject: SCOUG-Help: Installing DSL

Content Type: text/plain

Hi, Peter, the issue is that the code running the install is a Windoze
app as far as I can tell. It has to run in Windoze so that the
appropriate information is put into the router. I can't even read the
CD in my FreeBSD system and I can normally read my data backups from the
FreeBSD system in myWindoze computer and vice versa. So, it may be that
having a CD written according to ISO standards instead of the Windoze
funky format is the basis for requring a Windoze system.

The other piece is that Verizon apparently went out for the very least
expensive ( read cheep) DLS modii possible.

The Verizon tech support people about had online heart attacks when they
told me to open Outlook Express and I told them it wasn't on the
computer because it's the first thing to be removed. IE is the second
thing to go. So, they plotzed on Thunderbird and on FireFox with a
bunch of I don't really understand these programs. DOH!
