I had been scanning the world of "garage shop" computers when IBM came
out. But I delayed and the XT was released with something called a hard
drive. I delayed again and my first was a 286. Mail order clone, about
$3200 as I recall with the top-of-the-line HDD; 28M. I am not sure if I
still have it. Somewhere back then Bill Machrone (PC Mag) said the PC
you want always costs $3000. I guess today you have to be a gamer to
spend that much.
