Yes, but Win CHKDSK can run at bootup, against something it does not understand or does not like. In that event, you'd better be paying attention, and be quick on the trigger.

According to the release notes, a JFS data partition is -- for all practical purposes -- required for OO 2.x. I like Open Office, but for the time being I find no pressing reason to advance beyond v. 115. On the Dark Side, I don't recall OO 2.x asking for JFS . . . but I could be wrong.

Yup. Several. FAT-32 storage ones as well.

Don't know what to tell you, Ray. I push what I run fairly hard -- probably not by Steven's terms, but _still_ relative to the "average" user. I certainly have my problems, but what you refer to ain't among 'em.
