Hi, folks -
I wanted to know how to not have to pay for the copy of Vista that came
on a new computer and without which Costco wouldn't sell me the
computer. I have installed FreeBSD 6.3 and SuSE Linux 9 running under
VMWARE on the system.
It turns out that requests for refunds in situations like this are sent
to the system hardware vendor (HP in this case) who will send a check
along shortly. It's only something like $60 or $70 but it's the
principle as it always is with any M$ product!
BTW - Last week, I met the guy who was the IBM-side team leader for the
development of Common User Access which defines the look and feel of
both Windoze and OS/2 from the 1980s and 1990s as well as much of what
IBM did with AIX. He's now working on an open source project to update
user interface standards. YESSSSSS!
