This is about four times as much work as what I did to fix the
associations for HTML files. I used ASSOEDIT to make one change --
without having to cange any program objects. When I launched ASSOEDIT,
I went to the Associations menu and selected "Associations by file
Filter". In the Association Filters window, I then went down the left
hand list box and selected *.HTML which then showed the associations in
the second "Associated with (first is default):" list box:
Java Applet Viewer from HTML
Editor for Java
Netscape Navigator for OS/2 (LAN)
OS/2 System Editor
I used my mouse to select Netscape and then clicked on the "Make
default" button. When I committed the change and closed ASSOEDIT,
double clicking on a HTML file would then launch Netscape.

I also used ASSOEDIT to chagne the GIF and JPG file assocations which
were limited to the two associations: "Image Viewer" and "PMView".
But this change did absolutely nothing for the default double click
actions for these file types. I even went so far as to delete the
"Image viewer" association from the *.GIF files and it is still the
default "Open as" menu item for GIF files.
