Peter,
The drivers I'd wondered about trying to develop are for simple ISA data
acquisition or timing cards, e.g., cards with a small number of ADC's and
programmable clocks, gates, counters etc. I wouldn't expect these
particular devices to be of interest to most others, but a general
introduction to writing a device driver--how does one start? Your outline
sounds perfect for my interests.

Okay, everybody: The outline I've got so far is 1) show how easy it is
to download the source for and then compile a driver, 2) discuss a few
of the "gotchas", 3) delve into understanding the hardware that the
driver controls since without such an understanding there's no way you
can write a good driver (sorta like writing an accounting package
without knowing anything about accounting).
