It just seemed to be a good idea. It seemed to make sense. I liked the
idea of the SIG producing a finished product.

I'm not terribly concerned about the development methodology. This would
a SCOUG SIG project and I'd expect a small group of developers. All that
really matters is that we are all on the same page.

The selected app needs several characteristics:
- no good alternatives are available, where good is hard to quantify
- other developers are not working on similar apps. Why reinvent to
wheel?
- source code must be available.
- if the app is/was commercial, the owner is willing to work out
reasonable terms
- there's a reasonable expecation the the app will be widely used
- the work must be doable within the resources of the SCOUG Programming
SIG

He mentioned porting a commerce server. I can't guess on the potential
user base.

Octave has a current OS/2 maintainer. Until this changes we would have to
work under his direction.

These already exist.

That is a good idea.

I can list several in no particular order, some of which may not be
doable:
- RA G2 plug-in
- Better quality OCR
- USB drivers
- A stuck in exit list process killer

I'm not much for tilting at windmills. Also, I've seen little in EWS that
does not have a good alternative. The fact that EWS is free and the
alternative may or may not be free is not relevant to me.
