You can not write the complete system without having some intermediate steps.
What I say is write the code that gives the best return. In this case the
front end is where you gain the productivity. You get almost nothing trying to
change the compiler.
What goes on under the covers of the user interface is irrelevant as I see it
when you are trying to prove a point. I can write a REXX program to gather up
the code and spit out some language to input into a compiler, then link that
output into an executable. It does not need to be fancy to prove that you can
improve productivity. As time goes on you keep adding more of the code
generation until you have a complete project. It will take time and many
people to complete so start at the top where the benefits are and work your way
down the list.
