Trying to find out if I read this list? :))

Time synchronization was easy -- OS2NTPD installed flawlessly. Backup
(dSync) also installed flawlessly, though I don't have it on CRON yet so
it's a manual start.

The operational difficulties are with InetMail (primarily the messages
which go into endless loops, though the digests and the SCOUG-General
list aren't working right now) and the web site needs some attention
(Carla needs some fixes which are probably minor code touchups). The
learning curve isn't steep but it's time consuming -- I still haven't
figured out why I can't SET TZ=-0700 and then start InetMail and have
Steward use this new value (and there's no support so I can't ask
somebody). There are still some references to C: which need to be
changed to D: (I've changed some but not all, grep finds them). I
started a FAQ when I first came on board but haven't had time to keep it
up, so right now it's pretty basic. It took me two weeks to get
Steven's FTP accounts working because of the time crunch; you have to
download two control files to your local machine, run the setup program
to update them, then upload them again, and somehow the docs author
neglected to write up that the default files which are updated _aren't_
the ones which the default installation uses. Hmm. Ye Olde 15 Minute
Job sometimes takes a bit longer than expected.

The message looping, to me anyway, isn't that critical because InetMail
_is_ working, albeit slowly sometimes if several messages are looping.
I wanted to add some code to try and figure out what caused the looping
but some off-list messages to me were pretty forceful about taking a
different tack and suggested changing WSeB so it ran on only one
processor in case the message looping was due to threading issues.
That's fine, but I wanted to try some other things first and that caused
some friction. So I think I best leave. This isn't sour grapes, it's
just a realization that my priority list is different from what some
would like it to be; different viewpoints are only natural but I think
SCOUG will be better served with someone else as Webmaster.

Rollin did an exceptional job of putting together and overseeing the
SCOUG server. The FTP works, the web site works (he wrote a number of
support CGI routines for it), the mail server works. I've added a bit
of value with, let's see, okay the clock is correct and now it's
someone else's turn.
