Umm, with all due respect, may I suggest there's a bit of tunnel vision
here? Testing is more than looking for code bugs; it is a way to see if
the original specifications, the system analysis, actually accomplishes
the vision?
Version 1.01 cleans up bugs. Version 2 usually has things which were
left out of Version 1 through oversight. Finding those oversights
requires testing. You mention Alpha and Beta versions (and by inference
Release Candidates); these aren't just looking for code bugs, they're
looking for design bugs.
