Spare me. All I have to do is look that the generated machine language
and write C code to output this code. Recall that I said "build a
compiler."

Even so, I could write the equivalent of your on conditions using C, but
why would I? Recall that I am a "right tool for the job" kind of guy. If
I needed the semantics of on conditions for a particular application, I
would use a language that supports them. Mainstream languages such as C++
and Java have these features. Not so mainstream languages like PL/1 and
Smalltalk have them too.
