I've used both dotProject and GanttProject. The last time I looked at
GanttProject (v1.11.1), it was relatively feature free. It offered data
entry and pretty good charting capabilities. For simple projects or as a
teaching tool, it should be OK. It did have some UI issues running under
Innotek's Java, but I have patches the the one's that bothered me.

dotProject is competitive with lower end commercial products. It does not
yet have resource leveling, but that is coming. It also integrates with
Mantis, but is much better suited for low level issue tracking than a
project scheduler will ever be.

I'd realy like to find time to do an eCS/OS2 build. Dmitry Froloff ported
2.9.4 and GNUPlot 4.? using GCC so most of the needed patches are already
available. Maybe next year. :-) Did you happen to notice that Ben Archer
showed up on one of the Octave lists with some getting started questions?
