I failed to note that along with PL/S (IBM) and PL/360 (Wirth)
McKeeman authored "A Compiler Generator" based on a
PL/I-derivative he called XPL. Try a google search. Just
understand what level of achievement existed in 1970 before
the K&R regression set in. Understand that nothing since it did
to this time has achieved what was available at that time.
Anytime you dismiss the impact of "int" and weak typing
(which allows logical operations on numeric variables), you do
not understand why Steven demonstrates a "beta" version of
OpenOffice 2.0 for OS/2 while I download and upgrade to a
released version 2.1 for Windoze. Why a GUI for VIM on
Windoze and not OS/2? While you may have developed a
fondness for the "UNIX mentality", get over it. Get back to
KISS.
