SCOUG OS/2 For You - February 1999
Reasons To Use OS/2
by Tony Butka
OS/2 is such a joy! Put on your thinking caps and get ready to share your reasons for using the best operating system in the world. Here's my start:
- Your DOS programs will still run in the year 2000
- Your Windows 3.x programs will run now and in the year 2000
- When your NT Server crashes, you can fix it using your Warp Server
- If you use OS/2, everyone will think that you are a nerd and a techie (or is that tekkie?) - which translates to they will think you are smart
- You can still use your OS/2 partition after Win98 crashes
- OS2 people are way cool
- People write viruses for Windows, not OS/2
- OS2 does not come with Internet Explorer, so the Department of Justice will never knock on your door
- OS2 programs are real production code, not alpha or beta. Remember what that was like?
- Each OS/2 license includes free membership in the flat earth society
These are my top ten reasons for using OS/2. What are yours? Any number of reasons are acceptable and prizes may be awarded for ingenuity - at my discretion, naturally. Send your reasons directly to the editor and you'll avoid the middle-man. She'll know what to do with them.
