SCOUG OS/2 For You - March 1999

In case you've missed all the subtle hints (candidates' statements, website announcements, nominations at last month's meeting and instructions for obtaining absentee ballots) the annual SCOUG elections are here! The requirements for voting are simple: you just need to be a SCOUG member and show up at the meeting; (if that's too hard, you can register your votes with our club secretary, Gary Wong ahead of time, but then you would miss all the special election day speeches and last minute campaigning).

While it might seem that there is a lot of overlap in the candidates' qualifications or that their statements all sound similar, the important thing about each candidate is that he or she has agreed to make a committment to participate in formulating and executing the club's business for the next twelve months and, if elected, will perform these tasks in their own way.

So, maybe the requirements for voting are not quite as simple as they first seemed. What's really needed is for you to take the time to read the statements, spend a few minutes talking to each candidate, listen to their speeches and think about how effective they would be in making SCOUG work the way you want it to. And that's why you should come to the March meeting and participate in our elections.
