SCOUG OS/2 For You - April 1999

Internet Happenings

by Dave Watson

Ya wanna tip? Go to the net. Dot com is the future. Big bucks. Great wisdom. Personal fulfillment.

And the best part is it's easy. Lately we've discussed Kosovo, e-commerce, job searches, and many other topics. Coming up? Well, if we knew that we'd be able to hack the markets, forecast the weather, and pick the outcomes of sporting events. Join us, and you'll understand what's happening on the net and in the world.

Where do we meet?

It's all online. We use webnet.org's #SCOUG channel for all our chats. Go to the Internet SIG IRC Chat page (at www.scoug.com, go to the SIGs page) for all the details, including simple instructions for getting yourself hooked up in this exciting new meeting place.

When? Several Times a Week

Monday nights 7 to 8 PM PST we host a help desk. Come and work on your own problems or share your knowledge to help a fellow traveler. The Internet SIG is moving to Wednesday nights, 7 to 8 PM PST. Always a lively discussion of current internet events and we'll even begin having a raffle. And this month we'll begin a a weekly forum on current events in OS/2-dom. Much more dignified than a gossip column, but we'll seek the juicy truth about many subjects.

We'll be looking for a day and time where we can attract an international participation, perhaps a Sunday afternoon.

Suggestions? Comments? Questions? I can be reached by email at dave@scoug.com
