SCOUG OS/2 For You - November 1999

Let's Hear It for IRC

by Dave Watson

Until we get the implant, there's IRC!

Internet Relay Chat is one of the best ways to stay in touch with your friends, and to meet new friends. The World of OS/2 is on IRC, and lots of people are using it. One of the favorites for SCOUG members is the Webbnet network at irc.webbnet.org. That's an IRC client address. Get a free or inexpensive IRC client and join us. Details are at http://www.scoug.com/chat.

SCOUG sponsored events happen three times a week:

  • Monday at 7 PM PST - OS/2 Help Desk is a big hit, with a world-wide audience. You'll learn a lot by just listening in, and you might know the special trick to fix that problem of one of our friends.

  • Wednesday at 7 PM PST - The Internet Special Interest Group tries to advance the uses of the internet for our needs and entertainment.

  • Saturday morning at 10 AM PST - The Warp Systems Chat is a heavy duty discussion of the details of OS/2, from kernals to tuning to supporting the online development of a new user support tool.

Please join us. Take a peek at the future of computer communications. Contact dave@scoug.com for info.
