The new millennium has arrived and, with it, almost total absence of any significant Y2K problems (knock on wood). Perhaps that is an indication that the new year will not be as hostile as some people expected or perhaps it is just an indication that media hype shouldn't be taken seriously. Of course, those of us that use OS/2 were not worried anyway... right?

The SCOUG 2000 election committee has been formed. It will consist of myself, Tony Butka and Bert Langer. We will probably need one or two additional volunteers at the March meeting to help count ballots. We will be actively soliciting candidates at the January meeting and will also announce all those that have committed to running for a position, either as an officer or as a director. As mentioned last month, if you know of a current member (including yourself) that would make a good board member please tell one of us.

You may have noticed a change in the format of this SCOUG newsletter. Carla Hanzlik, who has been our editor (publisher, article gatherer, etc.) since the first days of the club, has decided (with good reasons) that she needs a vacation from these duties. Each of us should take the time to personally thank Carla for all of the hard work she has done over the last six years with the newsletter; she will still handle article and content uploads to the SCOUG website. For the next few months, Mark Abramowitz has volunteered to put together the printed newsletter.

Lastly, as also mentioned last month, we need your inputs on the future direction of SCOUG. Please email any of the current officers with your thoughts or talk to us at the meetings.
