Well, you know what they say about good plans! The plan was fine, but the
disk wouldn't cooperate! So I had to replace it without the benefit of a
prior copy of the C: and D:. Am now in the process of restoring from my
backups, and keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm convinced now the only problem was the failing disk. Thanks for your
help, and hope to see you on the 10th.
