Your drive is only 2 GB, so you don't need the new IDE drivers.

I haven't heard that it can't. The actual file structure (HPFS) hasn't
changed.

Well, heck. I've done that (copied partitions between drives for
safety) on most of my machines from time to time. I've used both XCOPY
(type HELP XCOPY at the command prompt; I use /E /S /V) and Partition
Magic; both work for me.
Sounds like you're about to copy the partitions and then change the
flakey drive. That's a good plan as far as I can tell. Good luck. :)
