Well I managed to re-install eCS preview (what did it was pressing
F 6 no hardware check).
What I do not understand is why at the repair shop a format
(I specifically asked for long and watched 40 minutes -- NO ERRORS)
worked without a hitch. Then when I brought the PC home and tried to
install eCS GA, the long HPFS format quit at 45% (and stayed there 1 hour)
same as before I took it to the repair shop. Further attempts at creating a
volume failed to the point that LVM when invoked provided no options
except Create and Delete (the option to Create volume never became active).
Thanks Ben for your help
