Hi Steve,

That is a good thought.
The sound card has five connectors: CD1 CD2 TAD AUX IN and MPEG. I tried
them all -- no luck. Actually, I don't think it is the sound card. Even
when I removed the sound card completely, the speaker volume was still
barely audible. Even the POST beep on boot up can only be heard if I put
my ear up to the speaker.

Something in my motherboard seems to be shorting out the volume. I had
another MB before that worked fine.
