If I understand your description, you are getting an error message, but
the DOS prompt still works. If so, you just have a bad path either in
config.sys or the object properties or autoexec.bat.

Try it from the command line.

Don't let checkini shutdown the Desktop. Do a normal shutdown and reboot.
Then run checkin again, make sure the previoius changes took effect and
fix up any new errors that are reported.
