Perhaps, I misunderstood. I thought he said his Voodoo driver was not
detected. If that happened, the default would be VGA or perhaps SVGA at
640x480x16. As you say, ugly, but usable.

Think of SVGA as an enhanced VGA. It's still a generic driver. These
days, most adapters will support it.
