The IU exe floppies are the 2 newest replacements of the
intallation floppies !
The first floppy, called the Installation Diskette" still
remains the same but Diskette 1 and Diskette 2 shall be
replaced with the one from the IU exe ;-))
One more explantation to the IU exe files:
They were supposed to be for the Thinkpads but can be
used for other systems too, of course !

What These Diskettes Do
-----------------------
IBM ThinkPad OS/2 Warp Version 4 Install Disk 1 Update:
------------------------------------------------------------------
------------
The IBM ThinkPad OS/2 Warp Version 4 Install Disk 1 Update is a
replacement of IBM OS/2 Warp Version 4 Install Disk 1. This disk
fixes the following problems.
- OS/2 Warp Version 4 cannot be installed on hard disks that
have
over 4.3GB capacity.
- When ThinkPad 600, 600E, 600X, 770, 770E, 770ED, 770X, or
770Z is docked
to SelectaDock III and an IDE device in SelectaDock III is
assigned to
secondary IDE channel, the IDE device is not recognized.
- When ThinkPad 600, 600E, 600X, 770, 770E, 770ED, 770X, or
770Z is
docked to SelectaDock I/II, the system with OS/2 Warp Version
4
installed stops in the middle of its start up.
- OS/2 Warp Version 4 cannot be installed on hard disks that
have
over 8.4GB capacity.
- When a certain type of DVD-ROM drive is installed, OS/2 Warp
4
takes very long time to boot.
- When OS/2 Warp 4 is installed in a HPFS partition on ThinkPad
T20, T21,
or T22, Trap D may occur.
- OS/2 Warp Version 4 cannot be installed on hard disks that
have over
30GB capacity.
- When VGA or VGA GRADD device driver is selected and installed
on
IBM ThinkPad T21 SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) resolution model or T22
SXGA+
resolution model, opening DOS fullscreen command prompt or
OS/2 fullscreen
command prompt gets screen blank. If an external monitor is
connected,
it displays an image correctly.
This disk has the following new feature.
- IBM ThinkPad Dock IDE controller support
- IBM ThinkPad T23 support.
IBM ThinkPad OS/2 Warp Version 4 Install Disk 2 Update:

The IBM ThinkPad OS/2 Warp Version 4 Install Disk 2 Update is a
replacement of IBM OS/2 Warp Version 4 Install Disk 2. This disk
fixes the following problem.
- OS/2 Warp V4 installation intermittently fails due to MOUSE$
error.
- When OS/2 Warp 4 is installed in a HPFS partition on ThinkPad
T20,
T21, or T22, Trap D may occur.
- When VGA or VGA GRADD device driver is selected and installed
on
IBM ThinkPad T21 SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) resolution model or T22
SXGA+
resolution model, opening DOS fullscreen command prompt or
OS/2 fullscreen
command prompt gets screen blank. If an external monitor is
connected,
it displays an image correctly
The following models are supported:

To determine if you have to use the OS/2 Warp Version 4 Install
Disk 1
Update and Install Disk 2 Update or not, confirm if your model of
ThinkPad computer is listed above.

These diskettes replace Install Disk 1 and Install Disk 2 that
come
with OS/2 Warp Version 4 Package, and to be used at the time of
installation. These diskettes are not to update the installed
OS/2
Warp Version 4 components. Before you start the installation of
OS/2
Warp Version 4 on your ThinkPad computer, please refer to the
supported
model listing in the above section and confirm if your model of
IBM
ThinkPad computer is listed there.
OS/2 Warp Version 4 comes with three diskettes for installation.
These
update disks are replacements for Disk 1 and Disk 2.
1. Install OS/2 Warp Version 4 from the original Install Disk.
2. When you are prompted to insert Disk 1, use Install Disk1
Update.
3. When you are prompted to insert Disk 2, use Install Disk2
Update.
4. Continue installing OS/2 Warp Version 4 until you are
prompted to
restart your computer for the first time.
5. When you are prompted to restart your computer, do not
proceed.
6. Press F3 key to go to the command prompt screen.
7. At the command prompt screen, type the following command to
run
the batch file. The batch file is available on Install Disk2
update.
A:\FIXVGA.CMD x:
where, x: denotes the boot drive of OS/2 Warp Version 4.
In other words, the drive letter to which you are
installing
OS/2 Warp Version 4.
8. Type EXIT, then press the Enter key to go back to the
previous screen.
9. Remove the diskette from the floppy drive.
10. Press the Enter key to restart your computer.
11. Continue installing OS/2 Warp Version 4.
12. When you complete the installation, open OS/2 command prompt
screen.
i) Double click the OS/2 System Folder on Desktop.
ii) Double click the Command Prompts Folder.
iii) Double click the OS/2 Window.
13. Insert Install Disk2 Update in the floppy drive.
14. At the command prompt screen, type the following command to
run
the batch file.
A:\FIXVGA.CMD x:
where, x: denotes the boot drive of OS/2 Warp Version 4.
15. Remove the diskette from the floppy drive.
16. Type EXIT, then press Enter key to close the command prompt
screen.
17. Properly shutdown OS/2 Warp Version 4, and restart your
computer.
18. Proceed to install OS/2 Warp Version 4 FixPack and device
drivers.
NOTES:
(a) When you install any version of OS/2 Warp Version 4 Base
FixPak
and OS/2 Warp Base Device Driver FixPak at version
XR_D001, you
may be prompted whether you want to replace IBM1S506.ADD
module
or not. Choose no to not replace IBM1S506.ADD module
or your computer may not work properly. If you
accidentally choose
Yes and the module is replaced, then copy IBM1S506.ADD
module
from the Install Disk1 Update to \OS2\BOOT directory of
your
computer after you complete the FixPak installation.
(b) It is strongly recommended to run FIXVGA.CMD batch file
whenever you
change display driver to VGA or VGAGRADD if your model of
IBM ThinkPad computer is IBM ThinkPad T21 SXGA+ (1400 x
1050)
resolution model or IBM ThinkPad T22 SXGA+ resolution
model.
For OS/2 Warp Convenience Package Version 4.51, you do not have
to use these
diskettes. Instead, OS/2 Warp Convenience Package comes with
Installation CD,
which has the boot capability. First obtain necessary updates
from OS/2 Device
Driver Pak On-line web site, install OS/2 Warp Convenience
Package, and then
install updates obtained from OS/2 Device Driver Pak On-line.

7. Click on IBM Corporation (IBM PC Company - Mobile Systems -
ThinkPad)
8. Click on a model name of your IBM ThinkPad computer
9. Follow the instructions.
IMPORTANT: Several models of IBM ThinkPad do not support IBM OS/2
Warp Version 3.
