I have been following this thread with interest since I plan to switch to
broadband within one month. To be honest if I could keep my
worldnet.at.net address (aka 56k modem) with AT&T Broadband, I would do so
for simplicities sake but ATTBI customer support says I can not.

For me, I was looking at Earthlink's DSL for residence at $50 per month
with 20 hours of dial-up access as well. Then I looked at
www.dslreports.com for their "honest" analysis/reporting on cable/dsl
broadband access. DSL Extreme's $50 residence plan looked good but no
mention of dial-up access. I sent an email to tech support this AM and
got a reply within 3 hours:

"Our DSL service does not come with dial-up included. For additional
$5/month, we can provide you with an unlimited access dial-up account.

If you have any more questions or comments, please feel free to call."

So for me the $55 residence plan from DSL Extreme may be best for me.
YMMV.
