Are you still running with /Y:2?  If so, so it goes.  If not, I'll take a 
look at a system dump if you care to generate one.  When Ctrl-Alt-Del 
fails, does Ctrl-Alt-Numlock-Numlock bring up the dump prompt?  To you 
have space to allocate for a dump partition? 
While the hangs might be in different places, they are probably related.  
I would suggest you start logging the checking phase and the last handle 
displayed. 
If you send me the output of: 
  checkini /w /s 
I can take a gander and see if anything jumps out.
