Hi Harry,
Thanks for replying.
The sequence is as follows. System starts (ram test, graphics, etc). Tries
to boot from floppy (no surprises there!) then screen clears. Normally we
would get the white square OS/2 top left, but instead there is a one liner
"Booting from Hard Disk" and the HDD LED is on permanently. And that's all
we have to go on. It will stay like that (until we switch it off and go for
a coffee, that is!)
Since then we have done a re-install with minimal problems, but it would be
nice if it were a single corrupt, but repairable file doing this.
Best regards,
Terry.

Terry,

We would be glad to help, if we can. There are several knowledgeable
people at SCOUG (Southern California OS/2 User's Group).

You need to be more specific, when you say that the system fails to
boot. What exactly to you mean? Please accurately describe the sequence
of events that occur, when you try to boot up.

Different things could have occurred. For example, the system could be
trying to load an inappropriate driver, in which case you might get a
trap error failure. Or, maybe the boot sector has been corrupted, or
wiped clean, in which case you there's nothing to boot on. The system
just stops and tells you to insert a boot disk. And there are other
scenarios.
