Hi Butch
your RSJ experience shows something very important:
You control your system environment ...
... not opposite: the system envrionment controls you ;-)

...
> It is sometimes not easy to ask questions when the jargon
> goes over one's head.

That's true ;-)
But if you feel insecure of the jargon: You need to ask again !

> I've found that OS/2 is most unlike anything I've encountered.

That's also true: It is really very good ;-))

> It is very attractive to use, but requires constant attention
> and detailed manipulation.

You are the boss ...
... not your system is bossing you: See my first sentence ;-))

> I am sure other systems do as well, but OS/2 puts you into
> control sooner than other systems.

Which other systems ?
Linux is much more complicated and
WINdoof is a messy playground ;-(

> I want to thank those of you who have attempted to help.

With SCOUG you have a very interesting group to assist you ;-)
Myself, as an outsider from Switzerland, I do appreciate the
exchange of knowledge with them very much too ;-))

My suggestion:
Before you start reinstalling your system again do learn very
well the archiving procedures of the WPS !
Do an archive after a successful change and do another archive
before you are doing the next change ...
... like this you are quite safe to step back and work further ;-)

Good luck and enjoy !
Kind regards, svobi
