UniMaint could almost certainly take care of this, and clean out any detritus from the
OS/2 system files. It is, IMO, a "must-have" program, in any case. (If it's any
consolation, Win-32 has more serious -- and more difficult -- system maintenance
issues as well.)

The advice about desktop snapshots Before & After major installs (UniMaint, again) is
a good one, particularly if you decideded not to bother with a full-system backup. It
is also a very good idea to have a Maintenance Partition, &/or a set of known-to-work
BOOTOS2 emergency diskettes. The latter just allowed me to zap a pesky "phantom" file
that was gumming up the works. Doing these things will go a long way towards
immunizing you from the sort of system-boot problem you were describing.

If you are accustomed to some of those Unix / Linux app.s that require you to put
several pieces together and do a lot of customizing to reach the necessary level of
functionality, you might like this. Personally, I'd rather be running RSJ, which is
probably worth another try. I'm guessing you were installing the demo ? If you did
pay for it, you should definitely get a solution from them, or a refund. I haven't
seen any serious, unsolvable problems with their program (which I've been using since
ver. 2.8 or somesuch), but I haven't been using any non-mainstream hardware, either.)
