Hi Rocky
Yes, I am using =

http://go.icq.com

quite a long time and started long before with it when ICQ =

started to keep the contact adresses on their servers !

Since begin it's the used ICQ chatting tool !!

IceCQ for OS/2 always had problems respectivley was unable =

to authorize new entries in the contact list ;-(
Authorizing has become a quite difficult and somewhat lucky =

procedure ;-((
Normally using OS/2 only I had to go to an WIN system to get =

the authorization done properly before it was recognized properly =

also on OS/2's IceCQ ;-|

Under WIN systems I also tried Trillian but preferring a native =

OS/2 version it's not an alternative !

Since this discussion started I also found the possibility with =

Java AIM but without an valid User-ID I had no chance to =

experiment !
On the other hand I dislike having another account without knowing =

that's working properly. Another important thing:
My important contacts are all on ICQ and I do not know yet if all =

can be found on AIM again too ???

As an important restriction I noticed followings:

go.icq's contact window's frame cannot be increased (height and width) =

and therefor not all of my entries are visible ;-(

go.icq absorbs quite a lot of system power !
On my system with XP1800 and 768MB RAM swapping between =

other apps isn't possible without losing the connection to ICQ. =

If swapping to another apps, ie. Notes for getting an address, =

it's necessary to stop and start go.icq completely again ;-((

BTW: You mentioned that sought is a resident client !?
It's true that go.icc is NOT an resident solution !

But it's a very good mobile solution since the addresses are =

kept on ICQ servers !! Like this I am able to use it on my relatives =

systems everywhere in the world and using my User-ID with PWD =

I am straightaway able to chat with all folks in my centrally stored =

addresses !!

However the server centric storage of the contact addresses has its =

benefits, myself I do dislike the distribution of personal data to
these =

different servicces ;-((

Like this one will have ICQ addresses with ICQ, e-card addresses =

with Hallmark or something similar ...
=2E.. and finally there are mismatches and redundances till out of
control ;-(((

Well, I better stop here. =

I hope you can understand my explantation in my "Swiss-German-English" =

and with I do not cause some misinterpretations or misunderstandings ;-)

Have a nice weekend and cheers
svobi

I saw ICQ2GO at http://go.icq.com while doing my research. The problem
with
this is that this seems to be a Web-Java download-at-run-time client
just like
AIM Express. There doesn't seem to be any benefit with this over AIM
Express
except that I'd be able to say, I (or they) do ICQ, not AIM. I get the
impression that all my kids' friends are AIMers. The benefit to be
sought is a
resident client and ICQ2GO doesn't apparently work that way.

Have you used it yourself? What are the restrictions? What have you
noticed/seen/experienced?

Curious.

> Good luck, svobi

Thanks.
