I chose 1 of the largest size that would fit
rather than two smaller ones, planning on future
expansion with a small, limited number of memory
slots available.
I did not want to buy the memory and then have to
replace it with a larger size because I had run
out of empty slots.
Your argument makes sense too, but I'll take my
chances with bad memory sticks.
