One of my attorneys got hit with this last Friday. He's on AOL and he
received an email saying he had to update his account info.
The idiot fell for it. AOL's internal affairs *called* him on Saturday,
told him his service had been cut off because 30,000 spam emails had
been sent through his account, and that his bank direct-withdrawal card
number had been "compromised" (he'd reentered it at the request of the
original email).
I did a test for management 20 years ago at American Broadcasting
Corporation. I trojan-horsed the sales department's computer
workstations. Every single salesperson dutifully "updated" their
information when their computers asked them to do so. Management was
quite amazed.
