It works!  I was thinking along this line; your suggestion gave me  
the courage to try it.  First time I ever used the drives object for  
this purpose.  The problem with the drives object is it is so clumsy.  
It is much faster to use the command line for a touch typist.  But  
it is clumsy with LFN because to to to navigate on an LFN drive you  
have to keep typing in the quotes after CD.  
 
I'd MUCH rather use a tool like DOS LIST.  However LIST2 will not  
see anything on the CD.  Why is this, and what could use instead?  
Such a utility would be terrific.
