Steven,

Thanks. Peter posted detailed instructions for copying c: to l:.

Considering how little knowledge of os/2 and pc's I have demonstrated by
my posts, you won't believe this. I got my grandson's Win95 box working
after the Gateway tech and my daughter-in-law's brother (who is supposed
to know a lot about Windows) didn't. And I never saw Win95 before.

I replaced the CD-ROM drive with one from my old box, loaded the drivers,
set the bios to autodetect to solve one problem--drive E (the CD-ROM) was
not available. On startup initially Win95 asked for the CD so it could
install a file that started with S3 and some other files. After I skipped
these files it would run. Then, on startup, it started telling me that
the video card was not configured properly. I tried to configure it but
could change nothing. Then I realized that Win995 could be calling for
video drivers. So I got them from the S3 site, loaded them, was able to
configure the card. Viola!!! Win95 booted without a hitch.

It took me about 20 or 30 times as long as you would have needed to solve
the problemsand I don't see why the others did not solve these problems.
The Gateway tech was probably doing my son a favor when he gave up; if he
had made the box run, my son would not have gotten his money back for the
pc. I don't have any idea why the brother did not spot and fix the
problems.

One goof. Somewhere along the line I deleted everything on the c: drive
except the operating system. Fortunately my daughter-in-law had told me
that would be no problem.

Aint it amazing:-))
