Peter:
Your message was lost in Communicator on my ECS drive because of a
corruption in "fonts". Just fixed it after a consultation with Steven.
Anyway, the dates of my sojourn with Hallicrafters were 1960=1963.
Mamory fails! I was an engineer working in the components department
doing reliability testing on AN/ALT13 airborne radar jammers. High
powered L band transmitters,FM and AM modulated with noise to overpower
radar receivers. Liquid cooled with DC-200 silicon fluid which leaked
overywhere and wet everything. I'll tell you sometime about the tale of
my soaked overcoat.
Hallicrafters was located at %th St. & Kostner Ave. in Chicago when I
was there. Later, they moved out to the suburbs and were finally bought
out by Northrup and the military department was closed and moved to Los
Angeles. The Halligan family retained the commericial operation, which
was amateur radio (the feeble attempt at television manufacturing
failed), but finally went under. The last I heard was that the physical
assets were packed ujp in boxes and moved to Kansas City.
Regards,
George
