Why is it that when things go wrong , they really go wrong, and at the
worst times?

This week I had a few important projects due, and within 48 hours, my main
main machine's desktop was corrupted, the keyboard on that machine stopped
working, preventing me from using an alternative partition to get real
work done, my laptop's fax mysteriously got farkled, and I screwed up the
USB port on my laptop. There was more...

Anyway, I want to get my main partition up and running, and was hoping to
fix it (yeah, right!) if possible.

>From a boot, all I get is a small popup box that says Workpplace Shell on
it, and "Installed:", with an "OK" and a "Cancel" button. Pressing either
gives me a command prompt, as well as a new popup, exactly like the first.

Checkini tells me: "Fatal Corruption Detected in PM_Workplace:Handles!"

Cleanini says "Reading PM_Workplace:Handles0 4blocksunknown
NODE-type at offset 4"

My desktop backups are either for another partition on the machine, or
relatively too old to be much better than creating a new desktop, because
it's a relatively new partition.

And ideas?
