Disagree. I've never had a SCSI drive (out of several) die on me --
although one developed an alarming screech towards the end of its
time in service -- whereas I've seen three non-SCSIs bite the big one.
Performance isn't really comparable, either, but then I have not yet
tried any of the 10K S-ATA variety.
Also, I *far* had more trouble getting the one IDE going in the Shuttle
box (this was *without* any slave device or CD-drive hooked up yet),
than I ever did with the setup for two SCSIs in the full-size desktop.
There were some occasional problems with a cable or a connector, but
that's unrelated and not uncommon.
I would say this, in regard to the problems mentioned by Wayne:
mixing SCSI and IDE h/d's in the same box is something that's far
too complicated for my taste . . . and my setup is likely much more
complicated than most.
