Information like this:

To see what Unimaint proposes to delete or change, use only a tree (or
other) view provided by the Drives. It show the files *and the objects*
in a directory; ZTBold shows files but no objects.

Some plain talk about the repair settings. The on-line help says yes is
the default for Do Not Reset Desktop but also says to set it to no "if
items that are repaired are coming back after a reboot". That help also
says no is the default for the Ask Before Resetting Desktop but includes
"The reason the desktopneeds to be reset in the first placeeis because WPS
needs to be aware of the changes and only a Reset will do that." and "The
reason the reset needs to be done as soon as possible is....".

If "do repairs" is selected for invalid disk handles, cd-rom, and some
other items on the settings page, those repairs will be performed (if any
exist) when ini repairs displayed as "Report Only" and designated by "Do
Selected" are repaired by "Do Repairs" even if the invalid disk handles,
cd-rom, and some other items on the settings page were not selected.

Before starting ini file repairs back up the desktop and supplementary
files.

If repairs really screw up the desktop, open an os/2 window and type
sysrestr.cmd to return the desktop to its state at the time of the last
desktop and supplemental backup.

I have not looked at cleanini and checkini, but I would be willing to bet
that you could make a few suggestions that would keep us stoops from going
wrong.

>>My previous problems with Unimaint may stem from the fact that I am
>>having trouble with BA2K. File->restore and file->compare work fine but
>>file->backup locks it up so I have to close it via the window list.

>You probably still have some sort of configuration problem. Take a look
>where your TMP directory is located. Perhaps you are trying to restore
>to a drive with active files?

>HTH,

>Steven.
