Subject: SCOUG-Help: installing warp3 connect

===================================================== If you are responding to someone asking for help who may not be a member of this list, be sure to use the REPLY TO ALL feature of your email program. ===================================================== I appear to be grasping without knowing what really to grasp for. Sorry for the ignorance. As for the 3Com etherlink III pcmcia card 3c589c, here is what the ibm ddp online says: "The device driver for this adapter / card is part of the OS/2 Warp base install CD. Please refer to the base install procedures for this adapter. Click on the "OS/2 System" icon, then the "System Setup" icon, then the appropriate install utility such as "Device Driver Install", or "Selective Install" This is telling me the driver is on the install cd in the warp3 connect package. I've opened every folder, extended every tree and have yet to find a driver. I've used the find application using 3com driver, 3c589c, 3c589b, 3c589combo, ELPC 3.052, and other combinations and nothing is found. I've looked in the user manual that comes with the package and there is no enlightenment for finding drivers on the cd or the floppies of images I made. Got any advice? As for the pcmcia socket services driver, I understand to reach the ibm bbs site via phone modem. Can't do that. We have phone service here, but only local. All long distance is done via cell phone. Question is, hotswapping the pcmcia cards is very nice indeed, but necessary? Won't the pcmcia socket driver that was installed during the system installation time suffice? As I mentioned in an earlier email, the ibm pcmcia socket driver was the one the system chose to install as the best one available at the time. Both my pcmcia cards, the nic and the cd-rom, are recognized and with the proper driver installed for the cd-rom, it works fine (at least it appears to and the pcmcia plug and play setup indicates it is ready and configured correctly. With my difficulty reaching the ibm bbs, won't the installed ibm pcmcia socket driver work? Really, who needs hot swapping? I have no pcmcia sound card that will work with os/2. The WAVjammer has no os/2 drivers I have found. Thanks for your help, Butch -- ----------------------------------------------------------- butch@fyrelizard.com ----------------------------------------------------------- ===================================================== To unsubscribe from this list, send an email message to "steward@scoug.com".
