I think new ones are about $140 for my 4039.

The high-capacity 4039 cartridges are supposed to be good for 10,000 pages,
haven't looked at the Optra cartidges, but I'd expect them to be similar.

I bought a duplexer attachment for my 4039 and I really like it, saves on
paper.

I don't think I buy a new laser cartridge more than about once a year at
most, and the cartridge doesn't dry up like inkjets tend to do if not used
regularly. I was out of state visiting relatives in April, and I needed to
print some tax forms. I tried three friends/relatives computers, had
problems at all three with their inkjets... the third went out and bought 2
new cartridges ($66) to accomodate me; the second subsequently bought a new
printer with their new computer, the first needs new cartridges, also. A
fourth, my nephew, said his inkjet was smearing the type, so I didn't even
try his. These folks are not computer freaks like me, of course. It was
frustrating, and I didn't want to spend $66 (or even $30 for the B & W
cartridge) to print a couple of forms, nor did I want to put my income tax
information on the public library computer.

I'm thinking of getting a digital camrera, but I'm not looking forward to
getting an inkjet to print photos.

Wayne
